About Us

Hi there! We are The Hive@Kallang, the second branch of The Hive Backpackers' Hostel. We're the younger sibling having only opened in 2011 but nevertheless just as good a hostel! You may want to also check out our other branch The Hive@Boon Keng at www.thehivebackpackers.com if you don't believe us :) Anyway, more about us over here! As fellow backpackers ourselves we know that helpless feeling of getting lost trying to find your hostel amidst winding streets in a foreign land, map in hand whilst lugging your heavy backpacks around. So we have plopped ourselves conveniently just a 2min walk across Kallang MRT (train/tube/metro/subway) station to make it easy for our guests to find us. You can even see us whilst you're still on the train! Besides being only a 20-minute straight train ride from Changi Airport MRT station, we are also just 2 train stations away from popular Bugis hotspot, and close-by to the cultural attractions of Geylang Serai. If you're a foodie, Geylang nearby provides lots of local favourites and culinary delights. Yum! Amenities are also readily available in our surroundings. A convenient and accessible location aside, our hostel is really about clean cosy accommodation at affordable prices for backpackers and travelers. During your stay here we also hope you have a relaxing time making friends while you're here. In the next few pages you can take a peek into our hostel, check out our rooms, facilities and also stuff around us. If you like what you see, do come stay with us. We welcome you to Singapore :)
Your Terrace

After an eventful day out sight-seeing sunny Singapore, we welcome you back home. Unwind at the open terrace in the evenings with your mates, a mug of beer in your hands (and another already in your bellies!). Or recount your day's happenings in your diary over a cup of tea.
Toilets & Showers

Begin your mornings and end your evenings with a heated shower in our clean and pleasant toilets. Our bath and toilet facilities are all shared, but rest assured there are enough to go around! We also offer laundry services and towels for our guests at a small nominal fee just to help us defray our costs.
Breakfast
Enjoy our free breakfast of toast, cereal and coffee/tea provided from 0730-1030hrs each morning. Eat your fill before you embark on your day's exciting tour of Singapore but do wash up after you're done. The sink's just round the corner! Sometimes too, we like to surprise guests with a curry puff or two :)
Other Facilities
Our hostel has free common internet terminals and if occupied, there is the option of surfing the internet in the comforts of your own bed over our free WI-FI access in your rooms. We also have printing, scanning and copying services readily available at the counter, just ask the counter staff! For security purposes, your hostel is accessible via security card access so guests can come in/out at any time and there is no curfew.

Chomp through the famous Jalan Sultan Road prawn noodle along with the bustling lunch-time crowd for a full-bodied local lunch-time experience, or get in earlier before the crowds come in for some peace and quiet. Oh, it is called Jalan Sultan Road prawn noodle because that was where they first set up shop before finally moving to the current location at Jalan Ayer.
In the immediate vicinity, there is a 24hrs Indian food stall 50m away where you can wrap your hands around yummy roti-prata, a favourite local supper snack or breakfast, among other Indian dishes. Korean and Szechuan steamboats can also be found within 100m of the hostel.
Exploring beyond the adjacent food stalls to our hostel, there is also a 24hrs food square at Upper Boon Keng Road (500m) for a wide range of foods.
More local delicacies can be along Geylang Road (500m away), a typical hangout among Singaporeans to satisfy their dinner and supper cravings. If you're a foodie, this place is as good as it gets in Singapore!
